Clearly

Currently headquartered in Vancouver, this company started out selling contact lenses. Within a few years it expanded to offer eyeglasses and sunglasses, as well.

In addition to some of your favourite designer brands, Clearly is home to exclusive brands, too! The first of which, Derek Cardigan, was named for and created by an early team member. That success was soon followed up by more exclusives, including Kam Dhillon, Joseph Marc, Love, Perspective, and more.

The company has goals beyond selling eyewear; they are on a mission to eliminate poor vision around the world! For every pair purchased, Clearly donates a pair of glasses to someone in need. 42 countries have been impacted, with more than 500,000 pairs of glasses donated.

Roots

As one of Canada’s most recognizable brands, few know that the company was founded in the early 1970’s in Toronto and was inspired by the wilderness of Ontario’s Algonquin Provincial Park. The designs are inspired by, and created for, those city dwellers seeking the escape of the great outdoors.

Roots is known for its genuine leather goods, iconic Salt & Pepper sweats and the Cabin Collection. To this day, their leather products are created in a Toronto workshop run by generations of family craftspeople.

We can’t wrap up our thoughts on Roots without mentioning it’s emblem – the beaver. Symbolic of the brand’s love of nature, Canada, and the rodent’s community-building endeavors. Like beavers, Roots is a strong believer in working hard and helping to improve communities for the better.

Of course, we couldn’t resist the bold graphic and underlying message of this signature tee. To get your own, visit Roots and shop with Cash Back!

Frank And Oak

We’re big fans of Frank And Oak’s ethics and practices, and for good reason. The Montreal founded and based company makes it a priority to use sustainable materials and methods for the production of their lines, along with ethical practices throughout the supply chain. And to prove it – they’re B certified, a third-party designation indicating that they meet high standards of social sustainability, environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability.

Founded in 2012, Frank And Oak originally specialized in designs for the modern Canadian man, but it soon expanded production to include a women’s line, as well. Collections are influenced by how the environment shapes our relationship with style. Pieces are then designed to help us maintain our lifestyles and produced with as little environmental impact as possible.

For example, this t-shirt is made of hemp, which requires no pesticides and little water, and organic cotton. It’s also UV, mould, and moth resistant! And these jeans are made using a waterless process, with a recycled zipper and recycled paper back patch.

Build your sustainably sourced wardrobe, and that Cash Back, by shopping Frank And Oak.

Matt and Nat

No, Matt and Nat aren’t the names of the company’s founders, it’s short for Material and Nature. This Montreal-based company is entirely vegan and cruelty-free, so you can shop with a clear conscience! As you might imagine, their values include social responsibility, inclusiveness, integrity, authenticity, and love.

One of the things we like most about the brand is that the linings of their bags are made of 100% recycled plastic bottles. Matt and Nat are responsible for recycling over 9 million plastic bottles (annually) for the manufacturing of their bags – really living up to their name!

Go hands-free with this small backpack, a chic alternative to your classic over-the-shoulder or handbag.

Joe Fresh

Chances are you are very familiar with the designer behind Joe Fresh – Joe Mimran. He’s the co-founder behind fellow iconic Canadian brands, Club Monaco & Alfred Sung. This label kicked off in Toronto in 2006 and sought to unite “integrity of product design” with a “killer price point”. Mission accomplished!

One of the great things about Joe Fresh is how accessible it is. Visit your local Loblaws store for groceries, including Real Canadian Superstore and Atlantic Superstore, and you can likely get a great new outfit with tonight’s dinner ingredients.

The line includes a fashion collection for the whole family – babies, children, men and women, with extended sizes for women: XS-3X and 2-22.

Kit and Ace

This brand launched in 2014 and was created by the son and wife of an already popular activewear designer. It continues to be designed and headquartered out of Vancouver.

You might be wondering. “Who are Kit and Ace?” They’re not people, per se, but the brand’s muses: Kit, a young woman named after the famed Vancouver neighbourhood, Kitsilano; Ace, her boyfriend.

Kit and Ace are known for their materials, like technical cashmere – a machine-washable cashmere, woven in their signature casual basics, elevated activewear, and workwear.

Designs borrow heavily from athletics, but are created in luxury fabrics for comfortable, durable streetwear that moves with you.
