Health & Fitness Trends

From the gym to running after little kids during the day, everyone’s health & fitness journey can differ. From meal planning to upping your workout regimen, committing to a healthier lifestyle can be made a little easier with a few tips and tricks.

Health and Fitness can often be a focus at the beginning of the year (with New Years resolutions and all), but is so important to think about little ways to improve your overall health throughout the entire year. So here’s a number of health and fitness trends for this year that are top of the list that we love! Shopping on can help kickstart your healthy journey while staying on budget. Whether you try one, or all of these trends, here’s to making 2018 your healthiest, most fit year yet.

Fitness tracker

What better way to stay accountable with your health and fitness goals than tracking your every move? A fitness tracker can count your steps, follow your sleep patterns, heart rate, among many other factors to ensure you are living your best life. I am obsessed with my fitness tracker and find that it truly motivates me to get moving. Fitbit is a perfect example of a fitness tracker, and comes in different versions with different features to best suit your life, as well as colours and styles.

Water Bottle

One of the most important aspects of healthy living is staying hydrated. It can help boost metabolism, prevent overeating, maintain proper functioning of organs, brain and muscles, as well as keep your skin supple and glowing. The easiest way to drink water is to keep a water bottle with you all day, at all times. Whether you are at work, in the car, at the gym, or at home, make sure to have water by your side. A S’well bottle is the perfect accessory to ensure you intake plenty of water everyday. These bottles keep cold beverages cold for 24 hours, and hot beverages hot for 12 hours, so you can keep ice cold water, or warm tea such as green or herbal. Either way, this will help reach your hydration goals. S’well bottles come in plenty of different colours, so you can still look cute while staying hydrated.

Collagen Powder

Although the goal is to eat a balanced diet full of vitamins and nutrients, sometimes it can be tough to get them all in. This is where supplements can be extremely helpful. One of the most trendy and popular ones right now is collagen powder. The thought of eating collagen powder from an actual animal may seem a little daunting. Trust me when I say that this has no flavour, and dissolves completely in pretty much anything. Throw some collagen into your coffee, tea, smoothie, soup, stew, or just plain water for a boost of protein, while also helping to keep your bones, skin, hair and nails strong. Check out for different collagen options.

Gut health is very popular right now and probiotics can help keep your gut healthy, by providing good bacteria. There are many different types and strains of bacteria, so make sure to check with your doctor or do your research to ensure you are getting the correct one. Probiotics are particularly trendy right now because of their health benefits such as treating and preventing gas and bloating, weight loss, immunity boosting, allergies, among many others. Shop at GNC to find plenty of different probiotics to choose from to suit your needs.

This spice has truly been having a moment, and I don’t think theres any sign of it slowing down. I love myself a good turmeric latte (so Instagram worthy!), and I especially love the feeling of doing something healthy for my body. Turmeric has powerful anti inflammatory effects, and is very high in antioxidants. Use this spice in your cooking to enhance flavour while also healing your body from within. Throw it into a stir fry, soup, stew, egg scramble, and just about anything, or make a delicious warming turmeric tea or latte to help warm you up this winter. If you would rather take a turmeric supplement, this can be an effective alternative. Head to to see the wide selection of different turmeric options like chips, vitamins, dinner sides and much more!

Fitness Clothes

What better way to inspire your healthy new year than with a little activewear. Putting on cute workout clothes could really be the motivation you need to get moving. Lululemon offers tons of great workout clothes that are not only comfortable, but chic and stylish too. And don’t be afraid to try something new! Nike has so many great pieces no matter what sport you might pick up like tennis, golf or maybe even getting back into something you love, like running!  They offer everything you need to stay active for men and women and will ensure you look and feel your best this year.

Be sure to keep an eye out for workout accessories too! From yoga mats to free weights and everything you need in between, you can earn Cash Back before you’re ready to get your sweat on! Need a towel to wipe off that sweat? No problem! We love checking out workout accessories at Lolë

A fabulous way to stay healthy this year is by cooking your own food at home. This allows you to control everything and know exactly what is going into your food. Check out a variety of healthy cookbooks to get inspired and find easy, yet healthy recipes. Chapters-Indigo has tons of cookbooks to choose from, including vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, healthy, and everything in between. Cooking has become one of my favourite pastimes recently and I have noticed that I feel better when I am home cooking for myself. Not only does cooking relax me, but I feel in control and satisfied knowing every ingredient in what I am eating and feeding my loved ones.

I am confident that incorporating any or all of these trends into your daily routine will definitely make you feel like you’re starting off the new year on the right track. If you get moving, eat a little healthier, stay hydrated and incorporate a few tips and tricks, you are sure to feel your best. Although these may be trends, I see them sticking around for a while, and for good reason. Try them out for yourself to see just how fabulous you will feel!
