How do I confirm if I'm earning Cash Back through the extension on my purchases?

Once you’ve installed the extension, go directly to the store you want to shop; no need to visit Rakuten.ca first. The extension will notify you if Cash Back is available. Select Activate Cash Back to get started. You can also activate it by clicking the Rakuten icon button. When you see a green checkmark on the icon, you’re all set and earning Cash Back. In addition to Cash Back, the extension will also let you know if there are any coupons available and apply them at checkout.

Will I earn the same Cash Back amount shopping through the Rakuten Browser Extension?

Why does the Rakuten Browser Extension function differently at some stores?

Rakuten offers Cash Back at over 750 stores and all the stores have different requirements for Cash Back notifications. To adjust those Cash Back notifications for particular stores, click on 'Settings' in your Rakuten browser extension.

Switching users is easy! Just click the "Not you?" link on the "My Rakuten" tab. This will log out the current user so a new user can sign up or log in.

How do I uninstall the Rakuten Browser Extension?

Chrome:

To uninstall, right click on the Rakuten extension, click "Manage", and then uncheck the "enabled" box for "Rakuten Button". To remove the extension, right click on the Rakuten extension and click "Remove from Chrome". If you don’t see the Rakuten icon, enter chrome://extensions in the address bar and press return. Find the Rakuten extension and select Remove.

Edge:

To uninstall, hold down the control key while you select the Rakuten icon in your browser toolbar (or right-click on it), then select Remove from Microsoft Edge. If you don’t see the Rakuten icon, select the three dots (Settings and more) in the upper-right corner and select Extensions. Find the Rakuten extension and select Remove.

Firefox:

To uninstall, go to Tools > Add-ons > Select "Rakuten Button" and click "Disable". To remove the Rakuten extension, select "Remove" in the same list.

Safari:

To uninstall, click on "preferences" and navigate to the "extensions" tab. Then uncheck the "Enable Rakuten Button" box. To remove the extension, click on "preferences" and navigate to the "extensions" tab. Then click the "uninstall" button. If a pop-up appears telling you to remove the Rakuten Cash Back application, select Show in Finder and make sure Safari is closed. In the folder that appears, drag Rakuten Cash Back into the Trash.

Can I use the Rakuten Browser Extension with other coupon or rewards sites?

No. Clicking on a link from another coupon or rewards site after you’ve activated the Rakuten extension will disable Rakuten Cash Back. We’ll notify you if that happens so you can re-activate Cash Back on the site.

Why? Because Rakuten works by getting a commission from stores for sending you their way, then sharing it with you as Cash Back. Using other competing extensions doesn’t allow us to track your Shopping Trips from Rakuten to the store. To make sure you get your Cash Back, please disable or uninstall any competing extensions.
